The Tira City Council meeting was postponed due to the ice storm. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 11, at the community center at 6 p.m.

Our community was blanketed with an estimated three-plus inches of sleet on Sunday and Monday. Several vehicles ended up in the ditch as they were trying to get home in the sudden ice storm. North Hopkins School was closed on Monday and Tuesday. We had what I believe to be a first in our neighborhood — a snow plow! We appreciate the state highway department helping to clear the roads.

Enjoying "Girls Day Out" and celebrating February birthdays at Juan Pablo's were Nancy Wynelle Lawson Belz, Virginia (Julie) Price Miller, Catheron Smith Camper, Gale Milligan and the February honorees, Jo Nell Crowson Willis, Lucy Vaden and Betty Weir.

Mick and Linda Petty met Ken and Suzi Chapman in Dallas last Saturday and attended the Dallas Stars hockey game then drove to Winstar Casino in Oklahoma and attended the Allan Jackson concert. Linda said it was great spending time with good friends and, although the Stars lost, it was still fun and the concert was great. Linda says they got home Sunday just ahead of the ice storm.

Yvonne Weir reports, “Dustin and Dakota spent the weekend with us. We went to Wesley's last basketball game and the event at The ROC Saturday night. [Jeff Goodin, former Dallas Mavericks Mavs Man, acrobatic slam dunk artist and motivational speaker entertained the group.] During the day Saturday we went out in the pasture and the boys shot turtles at the pool. After church on Sunday they headed home. We had such a great time.”

Chip Vaughn was in Mesquite on Saturday, with the Sulphur Spring Middle School Destination Imagination Team that he helps coach. They placed third in their event.
