March 1 is the night of the great Stew and Chili Cook Off Contest. Entry fee is $10 per pot. Come and have the bragging rights of “Best Chili Brashear Baptist Church.” There are two categories: juniors 18 and under and seniors age 19 and older.
The youth will also be having an auction after the meal. Several great items will be up for auction. I have seen some of the items, and if you are a fan of DIY or Pinterest, there is something for you here. I have even heard there may be some trees for the auction.
Come one and all and have a great evening of food and fun here in Brashear. Forgot to mention, the meal will start at 5 p.m. and the auction about 6 p.m. Find everyone in the Family Life Building.
Tom asked me to tell everyone that the turnips, mustard greens, red and white radishes are up. Now we need everyone to pray for rain.
Brashear Free Library is up and active. We hope everyone will avail themselves of this library. I hope you happen to see the picture in the paper last evening. We have had several people donate books. If you are interested in a certain type of book, let us know. We now have an eclectic assortment to start in there now. Thanks to Amanda at The Ol' Store for allowing us to put the Library in front of her store.
I have found out that there are several people who want to know what is going on in Brashear and do not receive the paper. So, I am asking for emails so I can email you the news. If you have a friend, family neighbor, or just someone interested let them know.
Congratulations to the Miller Grove Boys and Girls Basketball on their season. They have accomplished much and should be proud of the 2014 season.
Tom has seen two flocks of geese flying north this past week. Trees are budding. The pecan trees are not budding yet so the old timers say there is still a chance of a frost. Love the wild flowers that are blooming. Spring is a coming.
