Rodney Crowell: Wins Grammy, sets Linden date Saturday, March 8

'Tarpaper Sky’ set for release in April

    LINDEN – Fresh from Sunday’s Grammy win with Emmylou Harris for “Old Yellow Moon” in the Best Americana category, Rodney Crowell has announced he will be in Linden at Music City Texas on Saturday, March 8.

    The News-Telegram, in partnership with Music City Texas, is offering two tickets to the show.
    Here’s how to enter: Like the newspaper’s FACEBOOK page, then like and share the post about Crowell’s upcoming concert for a chance to win. All likes and shares will count, so if you like the paper’s page, like the post and share the post, your chances to win will triple.
    “If we’re really lucky, the winner will get a chance to meet Rodney after the show,” said News-Telegram Arts Editor Terry Mathews. “Not sure we can make this happen, but we are working on it.”
    In addition to working on a new record, “Tarpaper Sky,” which drops in April, Crowell penned “Chinaberry Sidewalks,” a poignant memoir that was released in January of 2011 to critical acclaim; and he’s collaborated with the poet Mary Karr on the stellar album “Kin.” He also performed on “This One’s For Him,”?a tribute to his close friend and mentor Guy Clark, in 2011.  
    Deadline to enter the giveaway is midnight, Monday, March 3. The winner will be announced on Tuesday, March 4.
    Reserved seating tickets are $35 and go on sale Thursday, Jan. 30. Call 903-756-9934 to place your order.     
    MCT Theater is located at 108 Legion St. in Linden. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show begins at 8 p.m.
