Morgan Joslin, son of Malcolm Joslin and Tiffany Joslin, attended the Civil Air Patrol Color Guard Competition in Nacogdoches over the weekend. He was not participating in the contest, but served on staff as a judge, along with two CAP lieutenant colonels and one Army major.

The community extends sympathy to the family of Roland Harris “Butch” Gregg. I appreciate Betty Weir sending me the news of his passing and some of the history of his family. Roland passed away on Nov. 28, 2013, in San Diego, Calif. He was one of the 11 children of David Boyd and Due Shirley Gregg. Betty reports that the Greggs lived in the Tira/North Hopkins area and Roland, along with several siblings — including Rose, Junior, Christene, and Ricky — attended school at North Hopkins. Roland’s older brother, Forrest Gregg, is well known for his football career as a player and a coach. Betty comments, “Junior and his wife, Sandy, have a ranch in Como, where they raise and train mules. Classmates and friends who attended memorial services on Jan. 11, at Fellowship Baptist Church, Como, were Nancy Wynelle Lawson Belz, Virginia Price Miller, Catheron Smith Camper, Jo Nell Crowson Willis, Betty Weir, Ronald (Red) Ferrell and his son Cody, Jo Marie Palmer Neal and Jessie Price.”

I guess not much is going on in our community. I hope to have more news to report next week.

I always need and appreciate input from my friends to help keep me informed of news in our community.
