William and Joyce Dodd had four generations of family gather at their house for a Mexican food Christmas lunch and gift exchange. Those attending were Michael McNiel; Tonja Dodd-Jones; Maegan, Alyssa, Gavin and Ethan Shelton; Rob Dodd; Brad, Tanya, Trenton and Matthew Dodd; and Stuart, Tiffany, Emery and Elliana McPherson. Joyce also says, “Happy New Year to all our friends and neighbors. We wish you all a very blessed year.”

Dustin, Natalie and Yvonne Weir went to the casino in Grant, Okla., on Monday night, for the Loretta Lynn concert. Robert Weir and Ed Jones went with them, but did not attend the concert.

Martha Payton sent a report on their holiday activities. Regina Payton from Victoria came on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 22. Ann Sullivan, Martha’s sister, and Al Heard from Longview came on Monday afternoon, and they prepared a large pot of gumbo for dinner. Their brother, B. C. Honzell, came up from Pittsburg for the evening gathering. On the 24th, Brad and Virginia Payton arrived from Keller in time for dinner and the Tira Christmas Eve service, led by Pastor Debbie Roggsby. Martha says, “It was a very beautiful service and a good group attended. It is always a treat to have Yvonne Weir and her family join us. Christmas day was busy, as usual, and then Brad decided to trim broken limbs from the ice storm damage, with Virginia supervising and helping, also. Thursday was the day for all good things to come to an end. Regina and Virginia cleaned the house, Brad hauled and raked up twigs for the brush pile.” Martha hurt her back, picking up limbs that the tractor should have been lifting. After two trips to the emergency room, the source of her pain was determined to be two bulging disks. She says, “The moral of the story is that you are not as young as you used to be.” She would also like to wish everyone a happy New Year!

Yvonne Weir, Brenda Allen and Jan Vaughn shopped in Rockwall on New Year’s Day. Dacy, Elise and Eli Campbell of Royse City met us for a delicious lunch at The Cotton Patch.

I would like to add my wishes for a happy New Year to all!
