I will start out by saying Merry Christmas to everyone! It is definitely hard for me to believe that it is already time to celebrate our Savior’s birth. Sunday our church (Brashear Baptist) had a children’s Christmas program and everyone involved did an outstanding job, as always.
Last week, FEC had their annual Christmas party and three Miller Grove folks were honored for their years of service to the coop. Marsha Potts and Phillip Jennings received pins for 25 years of employment with the Farmers Electric Cooperative. Bobby Middleton was also singled out as serving as a board member for the last 20 years.
Some of you may remember a cousin of mine, Wanda (Waskom) McLaughlin. She passed away last Thursday, Dec. 12. She was born the daughter of Thomas Clayton Waskom and Daisy L. (Carter) Waskom on May 29, 1935, in Miller Grove. She married Weldon Eugene McLaughlin on Dec. 4, 1952. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a half-brother, Duward Wayne Garrett. She is survived by her daughter, Aloaha Lynn Sheffield, and son, Weldon McLaughlin Jr.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Monday, Dec. 16, at Allen Funeral Home in Wylie with interment in Grove Hill Memorial Park in Dallas.
Happy birthday this week to Daniel Shackelford on Dec. 16, Bonnie (Ferguson) Callan on Dec. 17, Bailee Baylus on Dec. 18, and David Lynn on Dec. 19.
Happy 5th anniversary to Halston and Pamela Potts on Dec. 20.
