The regular quarterly meeting of the Tira City Council will be held at the Tira Community Center on Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 6 p.m. Following the meeting the group will be decorating the center for Christmas. The public is always welcome and encouraged to attend.
The Community Christmas Party is coming up on Dec. 7 at the community center. We will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a meal, and then I heard that Santa Claus has plans to stop by to visit with the youngsters (and the young at heart). Brisket will be provided and residents should bring side dishes, desserts and cameras (for pictures with Santa). Make plans to come enjoy the food, fun, and visiting with your neighbors.
Debra Wood went with Barbara and Kenneth Cockrum to watch their oldest grandson (Debra’s nephew, Stephanie’s oldest son), Cade Kennedy, play football at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, for his high school playoff game. He plays for Denton Ryan. Debra reports, “They won by 1 point and will play for Regionals next Saturday at Apogee Stadium at North Texas University in Denton.” She says, “Of course, I’ll be tagging along for that one for sure. We all had a fun time and a nice lunch in Arlington at BoomerJack’s Grill and Bar.”
Yvonne Weir, Regina Taylor and I attended the “Recycled Teenagers” brunch at Yvonne’s church in Cooper on Saturday morning. We enjoyed a delicious meal and the pastor shared an inspiring message, after we sang a couple of hymns. Following the fellowship, we went to the “Christmas in Paris — Holiday Craft Bazaar,” and then shopped at Hobby Lobby. We enjoyed our time together.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving!
I always need and appreciate input from my friends to help keep me informed of news in our community.
