Cumby Elementary will hold a its annual Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten Roundup on Wednesday, March 4. Registration begins at 9 a.m. All adults registering a pre-k student should sign in at the cafeteria when they arrive, to ensure orderly and equal access to registration.
In order to sign up, parents must have all of the required documentation readily available upon enrollment.
Enrollment will not be considered without all documentation.
All students must have the following documents: birth certificate; Social Security card; all immunization records showing the child is up to date on all shots; and proof of residency in the district, preferably a tax statement.
Parents of pre-kindergartners should also prepare to provide proof of household income, for all people in the home who receive or earn income.
In order to be eligible to enroll in pre-kindergarten, the child must be 4 years of age on or before Sept. 1, while kindergartners must be 5 on or before Sept. 1.
To be eligible for enrollment in a pre-kindergarten class, a child must also meet one of the following: be unable to speak and comprehend the English language; be educationally disadvantaged, meeting National School Lunch Program eligibility standards; be homeless; be the child of an active duty member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military, "military" forces or a reserved component of the armed forces, who is ordered to active duty by proper authority; be the child of a member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military, i.e.. "Military" forces or a reserved component of the armed forces, who was injured or killed while serving on active duty; or have ever been in the conservatorship (foster care) of the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) following an adversary hearing.
