Daylee Fite and some of her friends from church are teaming up with Verizon Wireless to collect new or gently used coats and canned goods to be donated to a family in need. Donations will be accepted on Sunday, Nov. 10, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., behind Redneck Roadhouse Restaurant, next door to Verizon Wireless, at 380 East Shannon Road in Sulphur Springs.
Robert and Yvonne Weir went to Canton on Friday, along with Dakota Weir and Stacy. On Saturday, Dacy Campbell and Destri Weir treated Robert and Yvonne to supper at a Brazilian steak house in Rockwall. Mike, Elise, and Eli Campbell, Gabe Blazes, and Wesley Weir were there also. The Weirs are celebrating 40 years of marriage on Nov. 10.
Yvonne also reports, “We were privileged to attend the Legacy Hospice Memorial program on Sunday, honoring those in the community that died in the last year. Robert, Dustin, Dakota, and Wesley Weir, and Joyce Dodd also attended.”
Dustin Weir will be starting his new job as a history teacher at Comstock Middle School in Dallas this week.
A small group gathered for the North Hopkins Alumni Homecoming on Saturday night. Everyone enjoyed a delicious barbecue meal, a great video of the Class of 1963, and a time of visiting. Members of the honored class in attendance were David Phillips, Edna Crowson Helm Perry and Billy McPherson.
Morgan Joslin was among the North Hopkins athletes who went to Humble over the weekend, to participate in the Regional Cross Country Meet. Their team placed eighth in the event.
Janice Franks, business manager of Linden-Kildare Consolidated Independent School District, and I attended the Business Managers Academy in Fort Worth on Monday and Tuesday.
