CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) — A jury is deliberating for the second day in the trial of prominent Democratic fundraiser Mauricio Celis.
Celis faces 22 counts of falsely representing himself to be a lawyer. Celis pleaded not guilty to all of the charges, maintaining he is a licensed attorney in Mexico. Jurors spent about 5½ hours considering the case Wednesday and returned early Thursday.
Each count could carry a punishment from probation to 10 years in prison.
