This week, I want to remind everyone to go by and see the New Cumby Telephone. They are having an Open House and would love for everyone to come by and check out the changes. They offered for all of their customers a wonderful barbecue last Saturday and handed out a great gift. This week they want you to come by and see what is new at Cumby Telephone.

They are now offering Television and selling TVs, cameras and tablet computers. They have a coffee bar and also have an internet setup so you can go by and use the internet. Check it out.

This weather is simply fantastic: cool, cool mornings with moderate afternoons. Someone said we may actually have a fall this year — football season for sure. No more sweating while watching a game. By the way, the Wildcats play Mount Pleasant Friday night. Let's beat Mt. Pleasant.

With the small amount of rain and cooler weather, our grasshoppers have decreased in numbers. But just up the road about half a mile, they are still thick. Crazy. I think they like the sandy ground better than this clay we have.

So sorry to hear about the accident on highway 3389 which took the life of a Brashear resident. My sympathies to that family on their loss.

Fall garden is growing. How soon do you think the first frost will be? I am ready to change the time back aren't you? Dark too early and light too early. I guess I am a traditionalist.

It is State Fair of Texas time again. If you have a chance, take advantage of this annual celebration of our fair state. Thursday, Oct. 17 is Senior Citizens Day. All seniors can get in free. I hope to see you there.

Now that the weather has cooled off some I hope you will get out and meet your neighbors. Time for a short walk or just sit outside and enjoy this beautiful season.

Remember I would love to hear from you. Call me at 903-612-8806; email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ; or come on by County Road 1119. Love to meet new people.
