What a blessing the rain was on Friday of last week. I hope the rains and cool weather keep on coming!
I received an email from Bettye (Stripling) Dunegan the other day and she told me that this year’s quilt show at the Fall Festival was the best she has ever seen. She said that the show was hosted at First Baptist Church’s “The ROC” (Recreational Outreach Center) in the downtown area of Sulphur Springs. For lunch that day, she was able to visit with her Miller Grove friends and relatives (June Garmon, Marsha Potts, Gloria Garmon, etc.) and to eat at the sandwich shop on the square. All-in-all it sounds like it was a very good day for everyone.
I talked to Sonia Earp this week and she said that the Miller Grove Athletic department was having a garage sale in Sulphur Springs on Saturday, Oct. 19. It will be located on the parking lot of the old True Value store. If anyone would like to donate to the garage sale you can contact Sonia and she will pick up donations.
Sheila (Bearden) Koon called the other night and said that she and some other M.G. alumni are working on putting together a reunion. She said anyone is welcome to come and the reunion will be hosted by the class of 1973. The reunion will be held at the Greenview Community Center on Saturday, Oct. 12. Guests may arrive by 3 p.m. and visit before the meal at 5:30 p.m. Lewis Russell is in charge of this stew, so I’m sure it will be good. Since the stew will be provided Sheila asked that the guests bring desserts or snack foods.
Happy birthday to Chandler Lee and Mary (Russell) Ridings on Sept. 29, Holly Miller on Oct. 1, Donna (White) Smith on Oct. 2, Ashley Hayden on Oct. 3, and Doug Hall and Richard Watson on Oct. 5.
