The Sulphur Springs powerlifting team got first place overall at the Emory Rains Annual Powerlifting Meet.
It was the third consecutive first place finish for the Sulphur Springs team.
Sulphur Springs had two first place lifters, five second place lifters, a third place, a fourth place, and fifth place lifters.
Eddie Arciga also won the plaque for the pound for pound strongest lifter in the light weight class.
“Some guys were able to improve their standings in the region. We have one more meet before regionals. Regionals is on March the 12th at Lindale High School. The top 10 in their weight class get to compete at the meet,” said SS powerlifting coach Rodney Flowers.

In the 132-pound weight class Taylor Link finished second place with a 925-pound total.
In the 148-pound weight class Eddie Arciga took first place with a 1,115-pound total.
In the 148-pound weight class J.R. Rivera nabbed second place with a 1,055-pound total.
In the 165-pound weight class Johnny McSheffery took second place with a 1,125-pound total.
In the 165-pound weight class Joe Scott earned first place with a 1,190-pound total.
In the 198-pound weight class Jake Russell got second place with a 1,305-pound total.
In the 198-pound weight class Tyler Higginbotham took fifth place with a 1,145-pound total.
In the 275-pound weight class Andrew Burton was second place with a 1,420-pound total.
In the Super Heavy weight class Mason Y'Barbo was fourth place with a 1,365-pound total.
In the Super Heavy weight class Tadarius Johnson finished third place with a 1,385-weight total.
Sulphur Springs High School will host their annual powerlifting meet Saturday beginning at 8:30 a.m.
Weigh-in begins at 6:30 a.m.
