Last Monday, there was a special school board meeting to hire Lindsay Smith as the new pre-kindergarten teacher. I’ve known Lindsay all of her life and she has tons of energy and a great personality, so I know she will do well in the position. Congratulations, Lindsay!
Happy birthday this week to Jason Shackelford on June 30; Kaitlynn George on July 3; Brandon Wren on July 4; Peggy (Briggs) Clem, Octave Woods and Kouper Sawyer on July 5; and Cathy Rhodes and Jena Burns on July 6.
Sunday, after church, I went to eat lunch with my brother and his family. We ate at Tierra Del Sol in Sulphur Springs. We found out last week that my sister-in-law, Madison, is expecting. So in about nine months I’ll be an uncle again.
While I was in town, I visited with Vallie McElvy for a while. While I was there, Johnny and Mary Lynn Ferugson also came in and visited. Later, when I was in Wal-Mart, I saw Trudy (Dickens) Mayers and her daughter, Cindy. It was nice to catch up with them.
I hope everyone has a great holiday on July 4. Be sure to be careful and enjoy whatever you have planned for that day, whether it is going to the lake or just sitting at home watching TV. Enjoy the day and be thankful that we have freedom in this country.
