Make plans to attend the Tira Homecoming this Sunday, July 7. The program and cemetery association meeting will begin at 11 a.m. in the Tira Methodist Church. Following the program, we will gather at the picnic tables for a potluck lunch. Contributions toward the upkeep of the cemetery are always appreciated and may be given that day, or mailed to the Tira Cemetery Association, c/o Floyd Payton, 1601 County Road 4612, Sulphur Springs, Texas 75482.

Trenton Dodd is on vacation in Galveston this week, with his mom, stepdad, sisters and a friend. Joyce reports, “He caught a shark where they were swimming and fishing. It got away … and so did they!”

Minnie Hillis Reagor reported that there were 86 people in attendance at the Hillis Reunion on June 15 and 16. A full report will be included in the Society News  in an upcoming weekend edition of the Sulphur Springs News-Telegram. She wants to remind the family to mark their calendars for the next reunion, which is scheduled for June 21-22, 2014, at the Tira Community Center.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Fourth of July, as we celebrate our freedom! I look forward to hearing about the activities in our community and having more to report next week.
