The Tira Homecoming will be held on Sunday, July 7. A program will begin in the Tira Methodist Church at 11 a.m., followed by a covered dish lunch on the grounds. Make plans to come and enjoy the food and fellowship. Contributions for the upkeep of the cemetery grounds are always needed and appreciated. Donations may be given that day or mailed to the Tira Cemetery Association, c/o Floyd Payton at 1601 County Road 4612, Sulphur Springs, Texas 75482.
Michael McNiel spent Thursday night with his parents, William and Joyce Dodd, and then left early Friday morning for a vacation in Tennessee and North Carolina. Joyce says that Michael is “having a ball!” She also reports that they celebrated Brad Dodd's birthday and Father's Day at their home on Sunday. Rob Dodd made stew and Joyce made cake and homemade ice cream. Joining them for the celebration were Tanya, Trenton and Matthew Dodd.
Sandra Wester enjoyed lunch with Wynelle Belz, Catheron Camper, Virginia Julie Miller, Gale Milligan and Betty Weir on Wednesday at Los Mochis in Sulphur Springs.
Kristie Wiebold visited with her parents, Tommy and Patti Wiebold, on Saturday. Sandra Wester joined them for a delicious lunch.
Our son, Delayne Vaughn, visited us for Father's Day weekend. On Sunday, Grace Vaughn and Malcolm, Tiffany, Morgan, Kenden and Jaidyn Joslin joined us for lunch. Landon and Rylan Joslin also came by for a visit.
Correction: I reported that Matthew Dicus was the “son” of Debbie and Ellis Dicus, rather than grandson. I apologize for the error. Here is the corrected news: Debbie Dicus reports, “Our grandson, Matthew Dicus, graduated from Sulphur Springs and joined the Air Force. Shirley, our daughter, and Tsinina and Anthony, our grandchildren, came down from Portales, N.M., to help celebrate with Matthew. We had most of the family at the Tira Community Center on Saturday afternoon. It was a blessed time with the family.”
I also mistakenly recently reported that Jacqueline Crone was survived by a son named Paul Settrini. Actually Jacque's children are Ronald Crone and Nelda Jeanne (Crone) Hudson. I was so embarrassed when I found out that I had made the error! Thankfully, Nelda said they had a good laugh about it!
Hopefully, I will be better about finding and correcting my errors before I send my news! I hope my contributors will always let me know when a correction is needed. I want my reports to be accurate.
