Annual homecoming at the Old Tarrant Cemetery will be held at 10 a.m. May 18 on the cemetery grounds. Jerry and Lou Jane Brandenburgh will present a musical program and those attending will be given the opportunity to tell a story of loved ones buried there. Hopkins County stew will be served after a short business meeting. Everyone is asked to bring tables and desserts. The alternative location, in case of rain, will be the North Hopkins School.
The Aiguier Cemetery Association will be holding its annual homecoming on June 2. Everyone is invited to gather for a potluck lunch on the cemetery grounds at noon. A business meeting will follow.
Linda Petty reported she had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend. On Saturday, she and Mick were treated to a great steak dinner at Saltgrass by their daughter, Tara and her fiance Mike Owens, then on Sunday they were treated to fish at AJ's by their son, James. Also attending on Sunday were their grandson, Hesston Humphrey, and Linda's mother, Fay Burns.
Tiffany Joslin spent the day visiting with her friend, Stephanie Weaver, on Saturday. They enjoyed getting manicures and pedicures and lunch at Macaroni Grill.
The school year is winding down. Some of the upcoming events at North Hopkins School include Senior Baccalaureate on June 2 and graduation on June 8. The eighth grade graduation will be on June 7.
I enjoyed my Mothers Day, with Chip doing the cooking! Joining us for lunch were Grace and Linda Ellen Vaughn; Malcolm, Tiffany, Kenden, Jaidyn, Landon and Rylan Joslin; and Laiken Gammill. Morgan was not feeling well and Delayne was out of town for a friend's wedding.
I'm sure lots of other mothers were treated to a special Mother's Day. I hope to hear from some of them and include their news next week.
