One of the perks of this job is getting advance copies of upcoming books and records.
Today, the new Guy Clark album hit my desk. Being the Guy girl I am, the CD has been the only thing I've heard all day, save one George Jones YouTube - gotta give respect where it's due.
Susanna Clark, Guy's wife of 40 years and a native of Atlanta, Tx., died last June. Understandably, the record drips with melancholy. I'd heard him do two of the cuts live, but the rest is new to my ears.
Be watching for a review of the record, including some thoughts from Verlon Thompson, Guy's long-time touring partner and possibly from Shawn Camp, an extraordinary musician who elevates everything he touches, and Bryn Davies, a much sought-after bass and cello player.
