Today we will start out with our wild flower report, brought to us by Mary Lucy McCorkle. She says you will find yellow blooms, similar to buttercups, in abundance. Mustard is up, Indian paintbrush, and blue bonnets are growing fast here in Brashear. If you take the time to look, you will find purple vervain, lockspur, blue-eyed grass, spiderworts and primrose are starting to bloom. Lucy wants everyone to take a little time and look at the beautiful growth all around us.
Last week I mentioned P31, I would like to explain what it is. P31 Fitness is a workout program that leads to the spiritual, emotional, physical and mental well-being of the Proverbs 31 woman. You will have support from the women who work out with you. You will receive a daily devotional, recipes, accountability and support from women just like you. If you would like to know more, check out the website P31fitness.com. You will need to look around on the website for the Brashear location. There will be a trial run here in Brashear on April 30 at 7 p.m. in the Brashear Baptist Family Life Center. Hope to see you there.
We have been spending a lot of time fishing. We have caught a few and luckily have not seen any snakes. Our grandson loves fishing. Hope you noticed that there is a fishing event going on at Cooper Lake this weekend. Children can fish and there is a contest for the biggest caught and the most caught. Go catch them, kids. Did you know that fishing in state parks is free? No license needed.
Garden is looking good. We are eating spinach, radishes (red and white), lettuce and greens. Need rain though. Let's hope we get some this round. Our irises are looking beautiful. We have the short ones and the tall ones are blooming now. Our colors are light purple, light blue, dark purple, yellow and a special one from my late mother-in-law, purple and white with ruffles. Simply beautiful.
