Shining Star Productions announces its winter musical production of Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas: The Musical,” based on the classic movie starring Bing Crosby, Rosemary Clooney and Danny Kaye at Hopkins County Regional Civic Center on Dec. 14, 15 and 16.

The show will feature over 50 talented community members who have been working since August to hone their singing and tap-dancing skills.
The show includes some of the movie’s most famous numbers, “Snow,” “The Best Things Happen While Your Dancing,” “Blue Skies” and “White Christmas.”
“White Christmas” features Brandon Edwards, Stacie Shearer, Megan Akins, Kara Petty, Jaci Reed and local veteran actor and entertainer Mike Dodd in the role of Bob Wallace, the role Bing Crosby made famous.
The production is directed and choreographed by Amanda Thompson-Brandenburgh.
The part of General Henry Waverly will be played by guest star 8th District Court Judge Robert Newsom, who is retiring from the bench after 16 years of service.
Newsome says his role in the musical is “part of his last hurrah” before retirement. Shining Stars Productions will host a cake and punch reception in his honor after the Sunday matinee.
Performances will be held in the Civic Center auditorium on Friday, Dec. 14, and Saturday, Dec. 15, at 7 p.m. and on Sunday, Dec. 16, at 2:30 p.m.
Advance tickets, which are $10, are available now through Dec. 13 at Alliance Bank, Hopkins County Regional Civic Center Box Office or from any cast member. Tickets are $12 at the door. Discounted rates are available for larger groups. Call 903-438-5217 for more information.
