LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) — John Pichon scored a career-high 27 points and Diego Kapelan added 24 to help McNeese State beat Texas State 85-79 on Sunday night.
Texas State led by two points at the break, but McNeese State outscored the Bobcats 46-38 in the second to seal the win. McNeese State has won seven in a row against Texas State.
Patrick Richard added 11 points off the bench, while Kleon Penn had 10 points and a career-high eight blocks for the Cowboys (9-12, 3-5 Southland Conference). Kaplan went 5-for-9 from beyond the arc, and Richard was 2-for-3.
Brandon Bush and Brent Benson led the Bobcats (1-12, 3-6) with 22 points apiece.
After a both teams shot just over 40 percent in the first half, the Bobcats dropped off in the second with a 36.6 percent mark (15 of 41). The Cowboys shot 54.5 percent (18 of 33) in the final frame.
