BRASHEAR NEWS
By DEBBIE YOUNG
There is not much news in Brashear the past two weeks. I guess you could sum it up by saying hot and dry. We finally got some rain Tuesday just enough to make it muggy.
Tom has planted a fall garden. He went out and planted it Sunday afternoon when he heard some thunder. Well, you can guess the rest of the story. No rain for Brashear. We are going to water a lot the next few days so maybe we can get some vegetables growing.
The Hurricane Isaac seems to be pressing onto to Louisiana. I am praying for all of the people in New Orleans. Who would believe that is was seven years ago when Katrina hit New Orleans? Let's watch and maybe some rain will come our way.
I want to thank everyone who brought clothes by for our Clothes Drive at First United Methodist Church on the 18th of August. We did very well. We made $1,000, sold over 4,000 items, and touched 230 families. God is good and the people who helped we appreciate you so much. Watch for more news of a sale for next year same time, same place. Also a special thanks to all of the people who came by and helped get the clothes ready for this big project.
I met a lot of new people while at the sale. Mr. Crow visited with Tom and me. He knew who we were and just came up and started talking. I also got to meet Amanda who owns the Brashear Store. If you have time, you should go by and visit with her. She is working hard.
To those of you who wanted okra, I am so sorry — about the time I mentioned that there might be some, there wasn't any. We are hoping the little bit of rain may make the okra start producing again.
Well football starts this Saturday night and we want to wish the Wildcats the best of luck. I want to send out prayers to everyone who needs just that little extra to make these days. God is good and watching out for us more than we ever know.
Thanks for calling, and coming by. I love to visit so don't be shy. Remember to call me at 903-612-8806; email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
