OLYMPIC DISAPPOINTMENT: The Olympics brought less tourist money to recession-hit Britain than businesses had hoped for, with a majority of tourist companies reporting losses from last year.
BUSINESS LOSSES: A survey by trade group UKinbound showed that 88 percent of tour operators and other businesses reported some losses during the games compared to the same period last year. Visitor numbers were down by 10 to 30 percent compared to last year, too.
VISA UP: Visa, the only credit card accepted at the Olympics, reported that spending by international visitors to Britain during the first week of the games rose 8 percent from last year.
