The hole in my heart from the second consecutive World Series loss is almost healed.
So to totally get over the disappointment of last year’s Rangers, I will boldly move toward the future. And the 2012 Rangers.
(Cue applause machine)
The Texas Rangers will win it all this year. You read it here first.
They got better, but so did the AL West. But really now the competition is the entire league. When you go to back-to-back World Series you have arrived. You can’t be taken lightly or brushed off as a flukey team from the Texas heat. The Rangers are for real, that’s why they will win.
They are a seasoned team. Experienced, well-rounded and they can handle anything. Heck, they have been through everything from bankruptcy court to a star center field with a checkered past. Even a manager who failed a drug test recently. They have learned to roll with the punches.
The pitching on the Rangers really excites me. I can’t believe I am saying this. I used to love to watch 9-7 games with five home runs, but now I am used to better pitching. No wonder Nolan Ryan is smiling.
Yu Darvish will make up for the loss of C.J. Wilson. Neftali Feliz is out of the bullpen and will be electric on the mound as a starter. I think the rotation of Darvish, Colby Lewis, Derek Hollard and Matt Harrison is pretty stout. I like Joe Nathan in the bullpen. He’s a pro and can still throw well enough to slam the door.
The Rangers defense is good. I like the outfield of Josh Hamilton, Nelson Cruz and David Murphy. Craig Gentry has speed to burn and was kept over Julio Borbon.
The infield is strong at the corners and quick and lively up the middle. Ian Kinsler and Elvis Andrus should be turning double plays all summer and for years to come.
So my pick is the Rangers. To not only win the AL West, but the World Series.
Then my heart will be healed and my years of suffering will finally be justified.
