Baylor is living large
Good things come to those who wait, that is what I have always been told.
So I guess the years of paying the preacher and being patient have paid off big time for Baylor.
Baylor sports seems to just be exploding off the map, not just in Texas, but nationwide.
The success of the football team, including the winning of a Heisman Trophy by Robert Griffin III, was just the warm-up act for the women’s basketball team.
To go 40-0 and win the national title is just an incredible feat. For Baylor or any team.
But because it was Baylor makes it so special.
Just ask any Baylor alum. They are not bashful. They love their school and they bleed green and gold.
I know because they seem to always find me. Every Baylor person I have ever met from the late, great former Gov. Ann Richards to my neice, Stephanie, they are walking, talking recruiting posters for the school in Waco. They love to tell you how wonderful the place is. I respect their vigor and enthusiasm. It’s kind of refreshing.
I have no affiliation with Baylor, but I do now have lots of admiration for the athletic programs. They did it the right way and they are reaping the rewards.
Everything is coming up great for the Bears and it is just beginning. I can hardly wait to see the fantastic stadium they are building on campus right by the Brazos River. It’s going to be something wonderful for the “Sic ‘em” Bear faithful to crow about. And they will.
You know what, that’s fine with me.
Drink a big, cold Dr Pepper and smile about a job well done. Congrats to Kim Mulkey, Brittney Griner and RG III.
It could not happen to a nicer group of people.
