I don't know about the rest of the Parrothead nation, but I'm really happy about today's annoucement from Jimmy Buffett re: A change in his Texas latitude.

Buffett and the Coral Reefers will be moving their annual metroplex show from Pizza Hut Park in Frisco back to Gexa Energy Pavilion (Starplex to us old-timers) at the state fairgrounds.

That's not all. The show has been moved up to April 19, a month earlier than usual ... and it's on a Thursday night instead of a weekend.

I have fond memories of Starplex ... have seen a lot of concerts in that place.

Jimmy played there for years before moving to the larger venue in Frisco.

I took my keet (Parrothead speak for child) to his first Buffett show when he was 12 - at Starplex.

My mother went down a blow-up slide at Hoot Island, the 2006 Buffett parking lot party - at Starplex. A lot of surprise guests showed up that day, from as far away as Idaho, Rhode Island and Pennsylvania.

As for Frisco, it's a great venue, but the site we used for our charity tailgating parties was almost a mile away from the stadium and the hotels jacked up their prices to almost three times the usual rate. Security could be real testy ... and the Frisco police really didn't seem to enjoy routing post-concert traffic away from the place.

There may be a smaller crowd this year, but that's okay with me. I remember Jimmy before the carnival, when he was playing bars up and down Greenville Avenue, just him and a guitar ... and that 1,000 watt smile.

Maybe he'll make my day by playing "Northeast Texas Women" just one more time. A girl can hope.

Tickets go on sale at Ticketmaster on Feb. 18 at 10 a.m. They range in price from $36.50 for lawn seats to $136.50 under the pavilion. Helpful hint: If you're serious about getting tickets, get yourself to a Tickemaster outlet the day tickets go on sale ... or be online with a very fast Internet connection.

If you can wait until about a week before the show, good seats usually become available ... just sayin'.

Phins up. It's Buffett time in Texas.
