Tira Mayor Floyd Payton and Council members Powell Vickery, Malcolm Joslin, Sandra Wester and Janie Lewis, along with myself, the city secretary, met at the community center on Tuesday night and conducted routine business during the regular quarterly council meeting. Tira Volunteer Fire Chief Malcolm Joslin made a suggestion to make a donation to the Blue Santa Program from the Tira Fire Department and the group agreed. They appreciated Daylee Fite, Kenden and Jaidyn Joslin, Martha Payton, and Cooper Adams and his friend helping with the decorating.

Brenda Allen of Yantis, Regina Taylor of Sulphur Springs and Yvonne Weir and I spent the day shopping at Grapevine Mills Mall on Saturday. We enjoyed dinner at The Cheesecake Factory in Addison, and then shopped some more in Rockwall before heading home. We had originally planned to spend the weekend in Natchitoches, La., for the Christmas activities, including a lighted boat parade, but the river was too dry. Plan B was a weekend in Granbury and taking their tour of homes, but we decided that the cold, rainy weather would make it less than enjoyable. In spite of the rain, we enjoyed our “girls’ day out” in the Metroplex!
