I guess everyone has heard the news about the upcoming closing of the coal mines in our area. This move affects many people in our area. So here is a challenge, how can you help out thosewho are losing their jobs? Our preacher threw this out this past Sunday and had me a thinking. I do not have the resources to hire someone, so how can I help? So I am wondering what we of Hopkins County can do to help these families out. I am asking for suggestions and would love to hear from all of you who can come up with some solutions. Remember, it is not all about money but just ways to help out.
Next item for Brashear Community Center fundraiser, a stew cook-off, is planned for Dec. 3 at the Family Life Center. We are hoping to have stew prepared by our local women and men and have a contest whose stew is the best. There will also be tables set up for a fee for 42. So, come out and enjoy the fun and fellowship. More details coming soon. We want to send out prayers to the Vaughan family. Larry had a heart attack and stroke on Saturday and is currently in Mother Francis in Tyler. He will be coming home by Wednesday for rehab.
Brashear Bash is fast approaching and I am ready to take any reservations for a spot, or a table. Call me at 903-612-8806; or call Carolyn Vaughan, or Linda Almon. We are so excited for this event will help us to raise money for an oven at the Community Center. Come one and come all we will be having some good pinto beans and cornbread. There will also be hot dogs too. Come out and join us for a great time Oct. 28, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m
Thanks to Dial Moffatt on letting me know that Brookshire’s takes plastic for recycling and newsprint.
