Rick and Judy Petty were in Austin last weekend visiting with Chris, Robin, Tyler, Trever and Trey Petty. They all went to a football game on Friday night and then attended Tyler's swim meet on Saturday.

Mick and Linda Petty took their granddaughter, Reagan Humphrey, out to eat for her 18th birthday. Others attending were Shelly Humphrey, Caleb Bagwell, Hesston Humphrey and Fay Burns. Linda comments, “It is amazing how fast kids grow up.”

Malcolm, Tiffany, Landon, Morgan, Kenden and Jaidyn Joslin attended the Fall Festival in Sulphur Springs on Saturday. While there they visited with Brianna and Dixie Cartwright and their family.

Kimberly Vaughn of Searcy, Ark., was honored with a baby shower at the Tira Community Center on Sunday afternoon. Kimberly is the daughter of Sandy Vaughn, also of Searcy, and the late Laurence (Larry) Vaughn, and the granddaughter of Grace Vaughn and the late Hubert Vaughn.

Tommy and Patti Wiebold traveled to their deer lease in Gouldbusk in Coleman County for dove hunting this weekend. They had a nice morning on Saturday and got a few birds. That afternoon they worked on their deer blinds and feeders, getting ready for bow season. Patti says, “That is when the rain hit. And it rained pretty much all day and into the evening Saturday.” Hunting Saturday evening was spent trying to move from place to place to get out of the rain. They report that it seemed to follow no matter where they went, but they were not complaining, as there had been no rain at their lease for some time. They enjoyed a nice steak dinner on Saturday night and then were in for the night early. Sunday morning came with a beautiful sunrise and the birds were flying better than they were on Saturday. They started home mid-morning and arrived at Tira around 2:30. Patti said it was a good weekend all in all, as she was able to take her young dog, Maggie, whom they are training for hunting. She said that she did very well for her first time for being just 8 months old. They were able to get everything unloaded and cleaned up before the rain hit on Sunday night, but again, it was welcomed for sure.
