The Tira Volunteer Fire Department participated in the Hot August Night event on the Civic Center grounds in Sulphur Springs on Saturday. They prepared and served delicious barbecue, along with many other departments from the area. The crowd was smaller than in previous years, but it was extremely hot! I also understand that there were some other conflicting events that kept the numbers low.
Robert, Yvonne and Wesley Weir met Dacy, Elise and Eli for “lunch and play time” in Greenville on Saturday. Alice Hall spent Sunday with Yvonne, and they visited Helen Weir that afternoon.
Regina Payton visited with her parents, Floyd and Martha Payton, on Friday evening through Monday morning. Martha reports, “We spent a quiet weekend visiting, reading and attending church on Sunday along with five other visitors. It was nice to awake Monday morning to a light shower of rain and a much cooler day.”
Sandra Wester went to Henderson Friday afternoon to visit her sister, Linda Andrasko. Linda's daughter, Kelly Lawrence, came Friday night. After a lazy Saturday morning, they went to Donovan's in downtown Henderson and then to downtown Kilgore to shop and discovered most everything closed at noon! They went to church together Sunday morning, and Jean Colley joined them for lunch at Lake Striker Marina. Sandra returned home Monday afternoon.
