Nancy Potts reports that the Posey Baptist Church will be having a garage sale on Friday and Saturday. They will be open from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. each day at the corner of State Highway 19 north and Farm Road 71 west in Birthright, across from Joe Bob’s convenience store.

Tommy, Carolyn and John Long went to Austin to spend the weekend with Reid Long. While there they visited the Blanton Museum of Art, the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum, the Ransom Center and ate some “really good food.” On Saturday afternoon, Tommy and John went tubing with Shad Scharlach, the new assistant principal at Llano Junior High. Shad’s mother, Sue Scharlach, taught at North Hopkins School for many years.

Linda Andrasko came to visit her sister, Sandra Wester, last Tuesday and stayed until Monday. Kelly Lawrence and Karyn and Steve Horne of McKinney arrived Saturday night. Betty Weir came for a visit on Sunday afternoon. Karyn and Steve returned home Sunday night and Kelly returned to McKinney Monday night.

Tommy and Patti traveled to Crandall on Saturday to visit friends Charlie and Lynda Wilson; Charlie and Lynda's son, Shane Wilson, and his daughters, Heather Wilson and Hannah Wilson. They enjoyed the day together, as Charlie has been ill and they were glad to have spent time with him. Tommy and Patti returned home late Saturday afternoon, and then found out on Monday that their friend, Charlie, had passed away.

Yvonne Weir of Tira, Brenda Allen of Yantis, Regina Taylor of Sulphur Springs and I traveled to Natchitoches, La., on Friday and returned on Saturday. While there, we enjoyed sightseeing, shopping, visiting, and great food! We toured the Fort St. Jean Baptiste State Historic Site on Friday and the Melrose Plantation on Saturday. We stayed at the Creole Cottage, a very lovely bed-and-breakfast, on the banks of the Cane River. We enjoyed visiting with the other guests, Ray and Jane Shirley, of Florence, Ala., and the innkeeper, Sonny, who served us a delicious breakfast. It was a great trip, but we decided that we should have planned the trip for a cooler month. We are hoping to return for the Festival of Lights in December.
