There will be a baby shower for Joanna (Killian) Campbell on Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Tira Community Center from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
It's a boy! Gunner Avery Campbell was born on Dec. 23, 2008, and weighed 5 pounds, 9 ounces.
Malcolm Joslin’s mother, Mary Ellen Joslin, is in the hospital in Tyler with lung problems. She was moved from Hopkins County Memorial Hospital on Saturday, where she had been since Christmas Day. Malcolm, Tiffany and their family were there on Saturday evening and Sunday. They spent Saturday night at The Villages Resort on Lake Palestine. Your prayers for Mary Ellen’s recovery would be appreciated.
Raven Potts went to Austin over the weekend with the Junior Beta Club. They were there for the annual Beta Convention. Nancy (her mother) reports, “While there she got to visit the capitol and enjoy eating out.”
I hosted our Bruce and Sherri Burk WOM (Women on Mission) meeting on Tuesday night, and Karen Dodgen of Yantis was my co-hostess. Bruce and Sherri are missionaries in Nepal. Bruce’s sister and brother-in-law, Sheryl and Dan Brummer, and their family attended First Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs before moving away. Our group helps support the work of the Burks and that of several causes throughout the year. Roy Smith of Sulphur Springs gave a presentation on his travels to the Holy Land and led the group in a study about recognizing and appreciating God through people, places, events and things – especially through the beautiful creations in nature. Eleven ladies were present for the meeting. New members and guests are welcome to our monthly meetings. If you would like more information, please contact me or call the church office at 903-885-0646.
I guess not much was going on in Tira last week. I hope to have more news next time.
