It’s almost time for the Texas State Champion Ice Cream Freeze-Off

Entry forms are now available at the Chamber of Commerce for the 10th Annual Texas State Champion Ice Cream Freeze-Off, scheduled for June 11 on the Civic Center Grounds.

This will be the easiest and cheapest contest you will ever enter. Just fill out a form, make a freezer full of ice cream and have it ready to turn in to the judges by 4pm on the 11th! There is no entry fee to enter and the prizes in each adult category are $75, $50 and $25. Top prize for Super Scoops is $100 for first and $50 for second. We also give away prizes for the “Little Dips” (6-12 years). There are three categories: plain, fruit and novelty. If you would like more information or to obtain an entry form, call the Chamber at 903-885-6515 or stop by at 300 Connally St.

Ribbon Cutting for Three Oaks Garden

Thank you to everyone who attended the Ribbon Cutting for Three Oaks Garden. Northeast Texas Choral Society spring concert, May 7-8

Make plans today to attend the Northeast Texas Choral Society’s spring concert, “Unforgettable,” which choral society members say will truly be an unforgettable experience! Tickets are only $10 for adults and $5 for children, and they will be available at all of the local banks, from any Choral Society member or at the First United Methodist Church office or at the Civic Center door. The event will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 7, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 8.

Bring your lawn chairs and stop by to recognize the volunteers for 50 years of service to Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. Great day at Buford Park for the Grand Opening of the New T-Ball Field

The Chamber held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Saturday at the grand opening of the recently renovated T-ball field at Buford Park. Hood’s Texas Brigade Brass Band will perform Friday, May 6, at Cedar Crest Church

Don’t miss the performance of Hill College’s “Hood’s Texas Brigade Brass Band” on Friday, May 6, at 7 p.m. at Cedar Crest Church, located at the corner of North Davis Street and Airport Road, across from the hospital. The Lone Star Heritage Quilt Guild is sponsoring this event in remembrance of the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. They will have a “Civil War Reflections” quilt on display, and it’s only $5 per person, with dessert following!
