Kelly, Nancy, Raven and Lane-Allton Potts enjoyed an Easter family get-together on Saturday in Leonard.

They went to her sister, Patty Lindsey‘s, new land, where they had a picnic and enjoyed games and good food. They got a surprise visit from Nancy's sister from Kentucky! Those attending were Mildred Vaden, Barbara Davis, Marisa Davis, Ben Davis, Mike and Patty Lindsey, Gavin Canning and Bobbie Underwood. On Sunday, they rose early for a sunrise service hosted by Posey Baptist Church at Cooper Lake. After church they enjoyed a lunch with Raven's boyfriend, Gavin, and his mom, Lisa.

Tommy and Patti Wiebold’s niece, Sara Miller, arrived at their house on Thursday for the Easter weekend. On Friday night, Sandra Wester joined them for dinner. Saturday was spent just laying around the house for a while, and then taking care of things outside. Later that afternoon, Tommy and Patti took Sara to the Brinker Cemetery so she could see where a lot of her ancestors on her grandmother's side of the family were buried. On Saturday night, they celebrated Sara's birthday with a nice steak dinner and Sara's favorite birthday cake. On Sunday, Patti took Sara to the City Cemetery to see where her grandfather's side of the family were buried. She enjoyed learning things about relatives she did not know. Also on Sunday, Tommy and Patti's daughter, Kristie and her fiancé, Eric Poe, joined them, along with Sandra Wester, for Easter dinner. Patti says, “It was a nice Easter Sunday and we hope that you all had a nice Easter, also.”

Regina Payton from Victoria visited with her parents, Floyd and Martha Payton, from Thursday evening until Sunday morning. On Friday afternoon, they scheduled a shopping trip, and then on Saturday they all went out for lunch. Martha reports, “The Tira Methodist Church had a nice crowd on Easter Sunday. [It was] so nice to have each and everyone.”

Mick and Linda Petty hosted Easter lunch on Sunday. Those attending were James, Reagan and Hesston Humphrey; Fay Burns and Alan Farris of Sulphur Springs; and Betty Lawson and Bill Clayton of Tira. Tara Petty and Mike Owens of Rockwall came for a visit Sunday evening.

John Long visited with his parents, Tommy and Carolyn Long, over the Easter weekend. They enjoyed Easter lunch at Los Mochis in Sulphur Springs.

Michael Dodd visited Joyce and William Dodd over the weekend. On Sunday, the Dodds had 20 guests for Easter lunch, including Michael, Robbie, Brad, Tanya and Matthew Dodd; Tonja, Monty, Lacy, Jacy and Tristan Jones, and friend; Josh, Maegan, Alyssa, Gavin and Ethan Shelton; Stuart, Tiffany and Tristin McPherson; William’s mother, Dorothy Hurley; and Joyce’s mother, Helen Weir.

Janie and Von Prahl visited Helen Weir on Sunday afternoon, and Dana Waggoner was there on Monday. Malcolm and Tiffany Joslin spent Friday night at Holly Lake Resort and then shopped in Tyler on Saturday.

Chip and I hosted a cookout for the area’s deaf, hearing-impaired, interpreters and their families on Saturday. Twenty-five people enjoyed hamburgers, hot dogs and the fixings. More than the food, everyone enjoyed getting a chance to fellowship with each other. Grace Vaughn, Elizabeth Steinsiek, and Malcolm, Tiffany, Landon, Morgan, Kenden and Jaidyn Joslin joined Chip and me for lunch on Easter Sunday.
