After returning from McKinney on Tuesday, Linda Andrasko stayed with Sandra Wester until Saturday afternoon. Wednesday morning they went to Paris for Sandra to see her chemo oncologist. Sandra is pleased to report that the results were good. Wednesday afternoon they went to Sulphur Springs to do some errands. Kelly Lawrence and her dog, Charlie, came from McKinney late Thursday afternoon to visit. On Friday, Sandra, Linda and Kelly went to see Daylee Fite's new playhouse, then rode around the area to show Kelly significant places in family history. They enjoyed a quiet New Year's Eve together playing Scrabble. After a lazy Saturday morning, Linda left for Henderson and Kelly and Charlie headed to McKinney.
J.R. and Donna Durst had weekend guests from the “big city of Sachse, Texas.” Kennith and Vicki King stayed Friday and Saturday night. Donna says, “We took them to our favorite hamburger place, Big Jon's in Cooper, on New Year's Day.” For Christmas, Donna's mom, sister and brother-in-law, her niece and her two kids, all from the Athens area, and Casey, Tiffany and Joseph came for lunch. They all had a good time. Donna also reports, “On the day after Christmas, we went to Finley, Okla., to visit with Amy, Kyle and Cooper Kitchens.”
Chip and I were at Piney Shores Resort on Lake Conroe from Wednesday evening until Saturday morning. On Thursday afternoon, we went to the Mercer Arboretum and Botanic Gardens in Humble. Not much was in bloom, but the grounds were still beautiful and we enjoyed the warm weather.
Larry and Dorothy Fitzgerald of Somerville arrived on Friday to visit with us and celebrate the New Year holiday. That afternoon we did a little shopping and a lot of browsing in the antique and gift shops in historic Old Town Spring. We enjoyed a delicious meal at Texas Roadhouse that evening and then went back to the resort to play cards. We took a break around 11 p.m. and drove around the lake to see the fireworks, and then returned to finish our "Spades tournament" and see the New Year in. Larry would prefer that you did not know that Dorothy and I beat the guys in three out of five games!
After breakfast at Cracker Barrel on New Year's Day, Larry and Dorothy returned home and Chip and I went to Dallas to visit Chip's sister, Linda Ellen. We had a late lunch together, and then Chip did some handiwork for her. Chip and I met Malcolm, Tiffany, Landon, Morgan, Kenden and Jaidyn Joslin at Chuck E. Cheese in Rockwall that evening to celebrate Kenden's 9th birthday, which was on Dec. 27.
