With a new year fast approaching, I thought I would talk to some people around Brashear to let them express their wish, resolution, or expectations for the future.

Pat Higginbotham said “for all of us to remember that today is a gift from God and that is why we call it the ‘present’. For everyone to start their New Year remembering that each day is a present.

Beverly Haygood wanted everyone to know that she is blessed to live and work in a positive community. Truth is that all of your smiles are contagious. True that. She said that was a quote from her nephew from New York, so “true that.”

Elton and Louise Stewart and Louise wanted to wish everyone a prosperous New Year.

Carolyn Vaughan told me I had caught her off guard. But she did wish everyone a blessed New Year. She also told me that they are getting close to completing the Family Live Building at the Brashear Baptist Church.

Carolyn McPherson Clark wishes that all my family and friends continue to trust in our Lord and Savior, continue to love him and each other and keep their faith strong. I do believe if we all  keep the prayers going and look to Him for answers, He is going to see us through this economy crises, get the disputes straightened out and end this terrible war that is claiming so many lives and injuring so many innocent men and women. During Christmas, my heart was with all those men and women that are fighting for us and our country and their families For myself, I feel blessed that I am still around to be with my family another year after so many of my friends have gone. That makes you really appreciate and know how lucky a person is to have their family together. Right?

Glen and Mary Stroh had all of their family in for the holidays. Their daughter, Kim, came in from Idaho. Brenda and Nicole, daughter and granddaughter, came in from northern California, and Lincoln, Tracie, Jessica, Glen and Allie all came in from New Orleans. Mary had a family Open House on Saturday and served a wide variety of dishes with her specialty, Gumdrop Cake. Tom said it was delicious.

Last week, I found out that one of Tom’s Aunt Ann Clack had a good friend who lived in Brashear. She said her name was Carolyn and she used to work in real estate. Does anyone know Ann Clack from Plano? Please call and let me know. We can share some Ann and Bill stories.

Jerry Bramlett updated me on a lot of the names that I had mentioned that had attended my great grandfather’s funeral. I made a mistake and my cousin from Yantis corrected me. William Frank Buckholt was my great grandfather not my grandfather. I was making myself older that I am. Wouldn’t want to hurry that any.

My wish for all of you is for 2009 to be a year of good health, prosperity, and peace.  We all are so busy we sometimes do not appreciate all that we have.  May God bless you and yours.

Happy New Year! Please write, 1047 CR 1119, Brashear, TX 75420, or call 903-612-8806 or e-mail me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
