Groundbreaking for the Hopkins County Veterans Memorial will be Thursday, Nov. 11

The time has come to break ground for the long-awaited Veteran’s Memorial that will honor the veterans of Hopkins County. The activities, which are being held, appropriately enough, on Veterans Day, will begin at 10:30 a.m. on the square. The SSHS Band will perform patriotic selections, the colors will be raised and the band will play the National Anthem. Then, a vintage World War II C-47 aircraft will perform a flyover. At that time, the ceremony of breaking the ground and honoring our veterans will commence.

Also, all veterans and their spouses are invited to the Wal Mart annual appreciation dinner on the evening of Nov. 11 at 6 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Activities Center. Call Wal Mart to make your reservation by noon on Nov. 10.
