Whoa, What a Great Christmas we had! I'm hoping everyone else had a great one as well. Christmas was great, the kids sang Happy Birthday Jesus and then the paper went flying! With 5 kids it was hard to watch each one open up their gifts because they just flew through them. And of course it wouldn't be Christmas without some sort of catastrophie... this year it was all my fault.
You'd think it would be one of the kids to break something, spill something, yada yada.. oh NO, it was ME! Christmas morning had just began and I, being the neurotic person that I am, was trying to get all the kids out from under the tree and put them in their individual stacks so all of them had their gifts before we began opening them. Well, the baby was standing near as he had taken on the task of taking everyone their gifts and I was trying to reach behind the tree to get one last gift. Picture me with one leg in the air, one arm reaching, tilted, trying to get that gift, I wobbled, grabbed for the tree (my closest point of stability) and then... very S-l-o-w-l-y.... as I'm shouting N-O-O-O-O, shaking..... CRASH! There goes my tree, toppled over, the very top landing right on Alex! I was standing right there but could not react quick enough. Alex was just fine, not a single scratch, just in shock, he looked at me like Hey, Watch it Lady! So, after a month of ME telling the kids, stay away from the tree, be careful, don’t tip it over, etc, etc, like every mother does... I knock the tree over. I've seen home videos of these types of things and laughed and thought, DUH.... Now, I must DUH myself! The rest of Christmas day my beautiful tree sat leaned on the corner of the wall so that when everyone entered my house they looked and said... "What happened to your tree?" I'd explain and the laughs would begin. P.S. No broken ornaments either.
