It’s hard to believe, but the World Champion Hopkins County Stew Contest is just two months away!
The date for the contest is Saturday, Sept. 18, at Buford Park. If you cooked stew last year, you will have your stew site reserved from last year until Tuesday, Aug. 31. After that date, all stew sites will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. We have already received several entry forms and are looking forward to it being the best stew contest EVER! Tickets on sale now for Aug. 13-14 Texas Heritage National Bank PBR Challenge at the Civic Center
Tickets for the Texas Heritage National Bank are now on sale at Texas Heritage National Bank, Circle E Western Store and the Civic Center. You may purchase reserve seating tickets and general admission tickets at Texas Heritage National Bank and Circle E Western Store or just general admission tickets at the Civic Center. Reserve tickets are only $20 this year with general admission tickets reduced to only $10.
Ribbon Cutting for Hampton Inn
Thank you to everyone who attended the fabulous grand opening and ribbon cutting for the Hampton Inn. Owners Mike and Daphne Cox and Ken and Susan Cox put together a fabulous spread of food and beverages for the more than 75 people in attendance. The hotel boasts a beautiful dark wood and very handsome décor with a conference room, weight room and pool! Ribbon Cutting for Collision Central at noon Aug. 4
Please stop by on your lunch hour to help us welcome Collision Central to Sulphur Springs and the Chamber of Commerce during the ribbon cutting at noon on Wednesday, Aug. 4. This will give you the chance to meet the folks at Collision Central and also see all of the ways they could help you if you need repairs done to your vehicle.
Free Marriage Education Class set for Saturday, Aug. 7
The Texas AgriLife Extension Office is offering a free marriage education class for married, engaged or seriously dating couples. The class will be from 8:15 a.m. and 4 p.m., and refreshments will be served. For more information or to make reservations, please call Johanna Hicks at 903-885-3443.
SS Girls Softball sign-up at Fieldhouse Sports
Fall Softball sign-ups will run from July 26 through August 21 at Fieldhouse Sports. The cost is $50 for the season. Late registration (after Aug. 21) will be an additional $10.
‘Drivers Safety Program’ to be offered August 30-31 at Senior Citizens’ Center
The Affiliated Driving School will be offering a 6 hour “Driver’s Safety Program” from noon to 3 p.m. on August 30 and 31. Anyone and any age is welcome! The program is $12 for an insurance discount only or $25 for ticket dismissal. You must pre-register, so call Karon Weatherman at 903-885-1661.
