11 & 12 Year Old Ponytails Division hosting Hamburger Cookout at First Baptist Friday

The 11- and 12-Year-Old Ponytails Division of girls softball are trying to raise money to go to the state tournament in Crosby on July 17-21.

In order to get there, they need to raise money! They will be serving burgers, chips and a dessert for $5 this Friday, July 2, on the parking lot of First Baptist Church on Oak Avenue from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. They will also have Chicken Express tea for $1. For orders of 10 or more, they will deliver — just call 903-348-7897! So please come out and support the Girls on their trip to STATE!

Symphony Concert & Fireworks scheduled for Saturday, July 3, downtown Sulphur Springs

You don’t want to miss the Northeast Texas Symphony Orchestra Concert and Fireworks celebration on the square, Saturday, July 3rd at 7:45pm. We are so fortunate to have this incredible event on our Downtown Square. So, once again, call your family and friends, grab your lawn chairs and make your way to the square for a spectacular evening of entertainment. The Concert, conducted by Dr. Douglas Bakenhus and fireworks are sponsored by Alliance Bank, GSC Enterprises, Inc. and Circle E Western Store. SS Livestock and Dairy Auction hosting ‘Getting More Money for Your Market Dairy and Beef Cows’ in July

If you would like to learn how to get more money for your market dairy and beef cows, then you need to register for the “Value Added Market Cows” presentation that will take place at Sulphur Springs Livestock Commission and Dairy Auction on Friday, July 9, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The day’s events include a live cow demonstration, a virtual tour of a packing plant, lunch, a question and answer session about animal health product use, dairy and beef market cow considerations and much more. Atwoods is coming to Sulphur Springs!

We just received word that Atwoods is accepting applications online at www.atwoods.com, so if you are interested in working at Atwoods, please log on and fill out an application! Atwoods is renovating the old K-Mart store building on Gilmer Street next door to Brookshire’s Grocery St


Fall Composting Program July 22 at the Hopkins County Extension Office,  5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Ken Kunkel (Master Composter) will be conducting a Fall Composting Program on Thursday, July 22, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Extension office located at 1200 B Houston St. The seminar is free, but you need to register by calling 903-885-3443.

Fall Gardening Workshop presented by Hopkins County Master Gardeners, July 22 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

If you would like to have more information on preparing your yard/garden for the fall season, then attend this FREE seminar at the Extension Office, presented by the Hopkins County Master Gardeners from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

They will discuss tree pruning, cover crops, soil preparation, lasagna gardening, transplanting, composting, and proper use of insecticides and herbicides. Please register by calling 903-885-3443!ore. The building was most recently home to Lake Pointe Church.
