truk, i'm just wondering something here - why don't YOU run for public office? if you're not liking what's being offered, don't like the people that are stepping up and running for public office, and you do seem to care very very much about both the Constitution and conservative values - why don't you run?

you've advocated that an indepependent should run, someone "of the people" that big money and big business doesn't back....and you seem a likely candidate.

i'm not trying to be a smart alec here, but, you do just seem pretty ticked off at the present numbskulls and you might just be what the voting public is looking for. take a shot. really.

Sorry it has taken a while to return. Had several projects going.
I have never thought of running for any office in the past. My thoughts are changing. I just do not see myself being elected. My guide would be the Constitution and the principles of our founding fathers. Which means the Government has little to no power to intrude in a citizens life. No Taxes without representation. My priorities would be those that try to take responsibility for themselves and their family. Those that want to live on the back of the working class, and make no effort to help themselves, would have a very hard time, this being a incentive to take advantage of job training and apprentice programs. I would not let them starve but there would be no money for extras. Freeloaders are not to be mistaken for those that truly need help. I would be a HUGE advocate for the reform of our public schools, our kids would know that there is such a thing as a loser, and if you do not get an education, you very possibly could be one of them. My economic priorities would be to promote business. A strong business climate means low unemployment and strong sales tax revenue for local municipalities. To the liberal this always looks like catering to the Rich, but in fact if business is strong it has a trickle down effect so in fact you tend in turn help the poor. 45% of the population pay NO taxes, I believe every citizen should have a stake in supporting the country, even if if was just as little as 5%. In turn it would mean lower taxes for the working class. And immigration!!! I understand what "Illegal" means. Sign the guestbook and pay your way. I believe in religious freedom for ALL, including Christians, which here lately have been forced to step back and due to political correctness are not allowed to speak of their faith or pray in public. This restriction is not imposed on Muslims, Satanism, Budist, Atheists or any other beliefs. These are all the things that the people do not want to hear. But I also would not take money from any Organization or big business to be beholding to their interests, I would look to finance by only using local people and business, so it would be my job to represent them. I have described what I believe what a representative is supposed to be. But lets be honest, what would my chance of being elected be?

Climatologists Baffled by Global Warming Time-Out

"Global warming appears to have stalled. Climatologists are puzzled as to why average global temperatures have stopped rising over the last 10 years. Some attribute the trend to a lack of sunspots, while others explain it through ocean currents."

well, folks, i'm mighty happy and proud to brag that i did make the german feast this weekend. and it was pretty darn spectacular! i just missed the german beer. had to make do with michelob ultra. but the potato salad was perfect as were the brats and knockwurst (even had the special german mustard). next day i made what my family refers to a (spelled phonetically for you guys) gou-lash. basically beef tips over a german pasta. best dang batch i've made in years, i'm telling ya! just added a bigger dash of cayenne pepper to give it a little kick. LOL.

TEXAS NATIONALISTS URGE PERRY TO STOP FEDS' DUMPING OF ILLEGAL ALIENS IN TEXAS
NEDERLAND, Texas – The Texas Nationalist Movement has challenged Texas Gov. Rick Perry to “walk the walk” on nullification by interdicting federal attempts to use Texas as a dumping-ground for apprehended illegal aliens.
Gov. Perry this week sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Janet Napolitano protesting the federal Alien Transfer and Exit Program (ATEP), under which some 34,000 illegal aliens apprehended in other states would be funneled through the Texas town of Presidio, creating an undue burden on local officials and further endangering Texas residents. The program is scheduled to begin Sunday.
“Turning the Presidio area into a way station for the repatriation of illegal immigrants adds responsibility to local authorities and holds the potential of increasing the strain on local and state infrastructure and resources,” Gov. Perry’s letter said. “This plan will increase the likelihood that these individuals will immediately cross back into Texas, which is already bearing an uneven burden in dealing with immigration and border security issues along the Texas-Mexico border.”
Texas Nationalist Movement president Daniel Miller on Thursday challenged Perry to “walk the walk” on his stated stance on nullification by using the Texas Rangers’ newly-formed Ranger Recon Teams to stop the shipments.
“We’d like to ask Gov. Perry to put his money where his mouth is on nullification,” Miller said. “We’re asking him to use those new Rangers to interdict the transports bringing those criminals in from other states and turn them back.”
Miller called the ATEP program “another instance of the U.S. government punishing Texas for our independent stance on so many issues.
“This is proof more than ever that the federal government doesn’t care about border security and doesn’t care about Texans,” Miller added. “Now more than ever, it’s time to leave.”
Miller said the TNM leadership will be issuing a call to its membership to support “pro-active action by Gov. Perry” to prevent the dumping of the illegal aliens.
Perry has repeatedly urged the federal government to approve his request for 1,000 Title 32 National Guardsmen to support civilian law enforcement efforts to enhance border security in Texas. In the absence of that support, he recently announced the state’s newest border security enhancement through the formation of Texas Ranger reconnaissance teams to work with the U.S. Border Patrol in keeping the border secure.
Texas has seen an increasing number of incidents of cross-border violence centered around Mexico-based drug gangs. The U.S. government has repeatedly ignored incursions by persons dressed in Mexican military uniforms and armed with military weaponry which have crossed the border in support of drug smuggling operations.

I think I read that the guy who owns and was driving the car is from Lufkin and is in the Classic Sports car Refurbishing business. Lucky for him he knows how to redo them...now if we can work on his driving skills....... :-D

Oh yeah, he was uninjured.

Those are GREAT tips Stan and I can't tell you how many times we have bought a new camera right before a trip or event and didn't take time to learn how to work it and didn't get the quality of photos we were hoping for. Thanks Stan! Karma bump ;)

Thanks for the update, Muu.

Yes, JB, it is fun and a bit silly, but I do enjoy it and it's great for the kids strings program. Can't wait to get home and check the paper. I don't think my phone will open the PDF files.

It was several years ago, but I REALLY got into the whole thing and kept bidding and bidding and bidding. I think I was bidding on every single item they were bringing up. It was like a gambling addiction -- only I was "betting" on auction items. I used to love the "coke a day" at Super Handy! I never won that one, but I sure bid it up several times!

Here is some history of positive displacement blowers. They derive from the same principles. http://roystongroup.com/history.htm

The Roots brothers discovered the principle of the positive displacement blower in 1854. This PD blower principle is still the guiding technology behind the rotary blowers manufactured today.
