First I want to say that I have no illusions that racism is real and alive in America.
But I do question to what degree? And which race is proportionally more racist?
We have been seeing for a couple years now about how the TEA Party is a Racist organization. Yet if you have been to a TEA Party Rally you would note that there are people there of all walks of life. One of the TEA Party favorites for Presidential candidate is Herman Cain and Allen West are both contenders and both Black men. I am trying to see the racism.
The common thread between us in the TEA party is fear the Government is stepping WAAAYYYY over its Constitutional bounds. So what does the President of the United States do, accuse the organization of being racist.
When the Black Panthers stood in front of a polling place holding batons, what was that about?
What if, the local Skinheads were at a polling place across town? Which group the Skinheads or Black Panthers would the media have attacked?
Do you think the Dept. Of Justice Eric Holder would have let it go? They would have put the Skinheads under the prison. And in reality both parties should have been hauled off. Two wrongs make no right.
I am questioning why the difference. For a group (Liberals) that is so opposed to “Racism” why is there so much of it coming from that party? It is in the Whitehouse, lyrics to music, and a portion of the black community act like there has been no righting of a wrong (Slavery and Segregation).
From the part of the white community we have bent over backwards to put the differences to rest. Agreed there are exceptions but as a whole we elected a Black man as President of the United States. Those that did not vote for him (Like Myself) it was a principle and policy issue as opposed to skin color. And no doubt a few boneheads had a problem for no other reason he was black.
We have bent over to the point we must watch every word we say to be “Politically Correct” as not to offend anyone, and turn a blind eye and ear to the rhetoric coming from the other side.
Affirmative action was created to give a advantage to the black community. Affirmative action has lowered the standards in school so more can get a passing grade. Preferential hiring in business gave a job to a person because that “Skin Color” was needed to fulfill a quota. Had nothing to do with qualifications. So a program that had such great intentions to help, drastically hurt the black community. They were not encouraged to be better, just black to get the job. I am certain there are some examples how the opportunity was taken to better themselves. However the majority have followed the curve down.
Here comes the real problem. In our school you cannot hand one kid a test and another kid a different test due to skin color, that is segregation and illegal. So all our kids receive the dumbed down test, and as a generation they largely have followed the curve down.
It certainly has showed up in the black community with the disproportionate amount of them on some form of assistance and single parent homes. Our white children are learning well. Drop out of school have a baby, check is in the mail.
It is a tragedy this is happening in America, to any of our children.
The greatness of America at one time was a superior school system. And it showed in the exceptional innovations that come from this country. We were the leader of the world. Because we were free to become all we could be.
So the point I am getting to is the more we try to give preferential treatment to make some misguided “reparation”
The more we are screwing up.
The “reparation” should have been living within the exceptionalism of America.
Paid for very dearly by their ancestry in which a great travesty had been made against.
But until we created preferential treatment, America was on the path to making all citizens equal. Martin Luther King spoke how he had a dream where all men would be equal.
In my opinion we screwed up getting away from that “Dream” of equality.
There are too many of the Black Community are still waiting for their “40 Acres and a Mule” (an actual statement made to me).
I can only say that I somehow apologize for the fact that promise was not kept . But I also had nothing to do with it. Nor can “I” make good on that promise.
There were great strides to make equality, which was the true “Reparation” short of giving the option to be relocated back in their homeland. And for most that would have been a death sentence.
But here in America the greatness was achievable by all. Bill Cosby one of the richest men in Hollywood came up in a time it was hard. BUT he succeeded. He by no means was alone. There are plenty of examples of successes in entertainment, Finance, Industry, Academics, and in the Military defending our Country. Defending FREEDOM.
Where did we go wrong?
Human nature is a fickle machine. Give something to a Human that it is not earned, Humans will not appreciate the gift. Not only will they not appreciate the gift and not use the opportunities that can come from the gift. But most will abuse the good will bestowed upon them and waste the opportunity, and that human trait knows no skin color.
I would be foolish to think there is no “Racism” in America. But when a Black Man writes a letter to the editor about how he has been discriminated against due to the color of his skin…. And after the investigation on his behalf, it turns out the whole story was a fabrication. Only a Racist would make up a story like that.
This man has to fabricate a story, I guess to get his 15 minutes of fame.
Lets break this down a bit. He was in College. Nearly completed Law School, and about to become a Lawyer.
Clearly great things was in reach of this young black man. The world in front of him. Where he was going to end up was only going to be limited by the capabilities of his own mind, and this potentially great mind stoops to the low to fabricate a story that has the appearance of him being a VICTOM!
I just do not get it!!!
