I keep hearing more and more how we should be more like Europe. I thought we fought a long hard battle to get away from the European style of Governing.
When our founding fathers invented what was to become America. There was great discussion as to what kind of system we were to have. Some wanted to set us up as a monarchy, some a democracy. The discussion went on and a Republic is what come out. The idea of a Republic is that our system is based on laws. It is SUPPOSED to only take one person to stand up and cite the law. (Boy have we screwed that up) but what overwhelmingly came out was that we did not want a system like we just fought a very bloody war to get out of.
We created a great system. If a person puts forward extra effort, the sky is the limit to the endless OPPORTUNITIES. People have forgotten what that means. It does not mean that it is acceptable to take from someone who has worked hard to get ahead. If you want what Bill Gates has, make your own fantastic product. Notice how these great innovations like computers, the telephone, television, the greatest medical breakthroughs, affordable cars, and the list is endless, all come from a free enterprise system and not socialist/ communist systems?
I know Karl Marx makes it sound so desirable for everyone to be equal, especially if you are on the bottom of the heap. "From each according to their ability, to each according to their NEEDS" Karl Marx wrote that. Sounds all warm and fuzzy, right? He had children starve to death at home while he spread that message. But when the Government is the one who decides what my needs are, how the heck do they know or even care what I need when I am living in their Government provided housing and they are living in the lap of luxury in a palace. Oh I know everyone is supposed to be EQUAL but that never has happened, has it? The first recorded instance of Socialism is recorded in Genesis of the Bible. Did not end well for the Jews, nor has it ended well for the people of Russia under Stalin, or the German people under Hitler. Or closer to present Venezuela, Iran, Greece, Italy and the list goes on. What ol Karl did not understand was human nature. I agree if EVERYONE pulled together equally, everyone could have a pretty sweet deal. But it is human nature to try to get over on someone else if they can, or want to have a little more than the minimum.
Freedom is not perfect, it does not mean everyone gets a nice car and a big house. It does not mean that you get health care for free from a doctor that has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to go to school and learn a profession. Or any other professional's occupations services.
Or you can do it as I have, not much more than a high school education but have worked soo very hard to build a better life, I may not be rich but I do pretty good. However I do not put in a 40 hour week, more like 50 on out. I have several 80 hour weeks under my belt, not bragging but trying to make the point that anyone can make something for themselves in they get off their butt and go for it.
So back to why did out founding fathers make the America we see so fit to ruin? They did NOT want a European system. It is the European system that we rebelled against. The overbearing Government, the over taxation and the over regulation. A system of the Government over it's subjects.
So I ask why are we in such a damn hurry to kill the greatest place on Earth? Our founding fathers did not guarantee anything but Freedom, Liberty and the Pursuit of happiness. No promises beyond that. The beauty of this system is that anytime you decide to quit having envy of others and what they have you can reach for it yourself. Everyone has the opportunity to make something for themselves.
So Europe is such a great place? I have lived there for awhile, nice place, nice people but the Governments take most of what it's subjects make and spend it as they see fit.
Most of Europe is near economic collapse. The European Union is warning every country in the Euro system to get their finances together, yet every time the Governments try to make make reform the unions shut down and has been rioting to prevent change needed to divert economic collapse.
We are not far behind considering the debt we are piling on in the past year.
SO WHY DO WE WANT TO BE A EUROPEAN NATION? There is something I am missing. Personally I vote to maintain my freedom and the OPPORTUNITY to better myself without my efforts being confiscated and given to someone that does not have the respect for themselves and family to get off the couch and hold a job and reach for a better job. After all it is so much easier to take from someone else by way of the Government.
If you like the European system so much MOVE THERE!!! Quit killing America!
One more question, where would Socialism in Europe be without the financial support of America? Germany is always being touted as the great success of Socialism, where would they be with out the many American bases there, with the thousands of American Soldiers and American employees spending their money on the German economy. I say we send our boys home and see what happens to the great Europe..... oh yea thats right the economic despair is what brought on WWII.
Wake up AMERICA.
