What started out Sunday as a reported disturbance in which a man was attempting to assault his girlfriend, ended with not only the man going to jail for assault and resisting arrest but a woman being jailed for assaulting an officer.

A Point woman, 25, was jailed for public intoxication, after she disproved her hysterical claim that she couldn’t walk on her ankle after being assaulted by her boyfriend by running after two horses that escaped while she was talking to Texas Parks and Wildlife Department staff.

The 46th Annual Hopkins County Fall Festival is almost here. It officially kicks off with a ribbon cutting and after hours mixer Oct. 13 and parade on Oct. 17, begins winding down with the concert and announcement of the new Cover Girl Saturday, Oct. 24, and concludes with the 2nd Annual Hispanic Day Sunday, Oct. 25. Put on some running shoes because the half marathon is back in Sulphur Springs Saturday. Organized by the Lights of Life Campaign, this is a fundraiser striving to raise the level of healthcare at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital.
