Sulphur Springs Independent School District Board of Education during a special board meeting Friday approved nearly a dozen personnel items, including one resignation and hiring of five new teachers, four new aides and one facilitator. The staff changes will impact five campuses.

Two local families are trying to raise money for the Red River Valley Down Syndrome Society by hosting The Dynamic Duo Music and Comedy Showcase at the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center July 29. For co-production manager Ashley Smith, this show is for her son Ky, who was diagnosed with Down syndrome three years ago.
