A Cumby High School student is one of two Northeast Texas students to advance from the regional bee to the State Citizen Bee.

Landon Mabe, son of Holden Killian and Kathryn Killian, was one among only three students to place at the Regional Citizen Bee held April 9 at the Region 8 Education

Several fundraisers are planned to help raise funds for 5-year-old Danni Massey, who is on pedi-dialysis due to kidney failure. 

Danni was recently sent to Children’s Hospital in Dallas, where she underwent surgery so doctors could prepare her for dialysis. She’s receiving dialysis treatments now, but is still coping with high fever, according to her grandmother.

Twelve members of the Sulphur Bluff Family, Career and Community Leaders of America Chapter joined nearly 4,000 other FCCLA members from across Texas to participate in the FCCLA State Leadership meeting at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, April 10-12. Two students placed in STAR Events, one high enough to advance to the national convention, and several students earned gold, silver and bronze for Family and Consumer Sciences Assessments.
