Sulphur Springs Police Department invites the community to join them Saturday, July 30, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Jay Hodge Chevrolet, where they will be cooking up hamburgers and hot dogs, printing Kid ID cards and encouraging people to “give a pint of life” at the blood drive.

The community showed their appreciation toward local law enforcement by outfitting every active-duty police officer, deputy and school police officer in Hopkins and Delta counties with active shooter vests.

The brain child of City Manager Mark Maxwell, the religious event was planned in response to recent violent attacks in communities around the nation.

Woman jailed after leading deputy on chase PDF Print E-mail

A motorist’s failure to stop when a deputy signaled for her to do so resulted in the woman being arrested Tuesday night on a felony charge. Hopkins County Sheriff’s Deputy Scott Davis pursued the woman into Rains County, where she eventually exited her vehicle after refusing medical attention for what Davis described as “distressed” behavior.
