    Over recent weeks, a large number of vehicle burglaries have been reported and, in almost every case, only money and cell phones were taken and everything else discarded.

County pays right-of-way costs for SH 11 straightening PDF Print E-mail

Action this week by Hopkins County Commissioners Court represents another step toward the start of a project that will straighten and renovate State Highway 11 west of Sulphur Springs.
    Commissioners authorized payment for the purchase of property for the highway construction project, according to County Judge Robert Newsom. The payment to Texas Department of Transportation will reimburse the state for the acquisition of the right-of-way.

Jessie Ibarra is being hailed as a hero for extracting an elderly man trapped under his riding lawnmower in a pond on his FM 71 property Friday. The man, 68-year-old Steve Potteiger, remains in Baylor Hospital, where neighbors say he is battling pneumonia Monday.
