The 46th Annual Hopkins County Fall Festival is almost here. It officially kicks off with a ribbon cutting and after hours mixer Oct. 13 and parade on Oct. 17, begins winding down with the concert and announcement of the new Cover Girl Saturday, Oct. 24, and concludes with the 2nd Annual Hispanic Day Sunday, Oct. 25. This year’s theme  is “Let Freedom Ring.”

Burglars at Joe Bob’s covenience store in Birthright apparently targeted an automatic teller machine in the store.

Sheriff’s deputies were summoned to the store early Thursday after the break-in was discovered, and an active investigation is underway.

The amount of money taken in the burglary was not disclosed by store owners and no mention was made of other merchandise that might have been taken.

Hopkins County business CEOs and top donors filled the banquet room at Sulphur Springs County Club during an appreciation luncheon sponsored by Hopkins County United Way Wednesday. Top Gun pilot and United States Navy Commander Michael Horn spoke at the event, which commemorated 60 years of the organization being in Hopkins County.
