The April 25-26 News-Telegram Neighbors feature profiles retiring SSISD educators Becke Anderson, Beth Shurleff and Sarah Briley. They share their advice, memories and challenges of the job.

Thank you ladies for more than 60 combined years of dedication to our children and schools.

Sulphur Springs Independent School District last week applied for and has since been granted a waiver exempting the district from having to make up the third day of classes missed due to inclement winter weather earlier this semester.

North Hopkins Academic UIL competitors who qualified to compete at the regional contest April 24-25 at Grayson County Community College in Denison include: freshman Rachel Stanley in Lincoln-Douglas debate; sophomore Victoria Wilburn in prose interpretation; junior Abreeanna Bisenius in Lincoln-Douglas debate; junior Allegra Thomas in ready writing, spelling and number sense; senior Mauricio Gamez in calculator applications; freshman Chase Williams in science; junior Katerine Flores in accounting; and (not pictured) sophomore Sheyenne Mitchell in editorial writing.

Nearly 300 staff members received vaccinations and health screenings as part of Sulphur Springs Independent School District School Health Advisory Committee’s wellness activities for staff. SHAC’s annual project also provided health education information to 300 local children and families.

North Hopkins High School junior Mason Virgil received the All-Star Tech award, while freshman Samuel Stanley and junior Abreeanna Bisenius received Honorable Mention All-Star Cast recognition at the district 14-AA area One-Act Play competition.
